  Prosecutors Seek Life Imprisonment For Koirala
    KATHMANDU, Feb 16: Public prosecutors on Thursday filed a murder case against Armed Police Force DIG Ranjan Koirala and his “mistress” Tara Regmi at Kathmandu District Court seeking a life sentence for Koirala and up to 15 years of imprisonment for Regmi for their alleged role in the murder of Gita Dhakal.

Public prosecutors have accused Koirala of murdering his own wife Dhakal in a “planned” manner and burning her dead body.

  Avishek Giri Acquitted
    BIRATNAGAR, Feb 16: Morang District Court has on Thursday given clean chit to Avishek Giri who was serving his sentence for the murder of one Karan Yadav.

A single bench of Justice Chandi Dhakal has slapped life sentence with property attachment on Navin Rai and Ritubarna Nembang arrested three years ago for the same offense.

  Committee For Maha Shivaratri Celebrations
    KATHMANDU, Feb.16: The Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) has formed a 201-member main celebration committee under the coordination of Minister for Federal Affairs, Constituent Assembly, Parliamentary Affairs and Culture, Gopal Kirati to celebrate the Mahashivaratri festival in a grand manner.

At a news conference organized by the PADT in the capital on Thursday, the publicity subcommittee coordinator Ramesh Kuikel said the Mahashivarati festival which falls on February 20 will be celebrated in a grand manner for three days- 19, 20 and 21 of February.

  Health Ministry Lacks Record Of Campaigns Run By NGOs
    KATHMANDU, Feb. 16: The Ministry of Health and Population do not have any record and documentation about the budget spent to control the spread of HIV/AIDS in the country.

According to the National HIV/AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Disease Control Centre, the Ministry even does not have the data about how many donor agencies have been working in this sector and how much budget was spent for the task.

  DHL-delivered Fake IC Seized
    KATHMANDU, Feb 16: Police on Thursday nabbed two people in possession of fake Indian currency worth IRS 1.46 million from Kuleshwar, Kathmandu.

A special squad of Anti-terrorist directorate of Nepal Police and Metropolitan Police Circle (MPC), Kalimati arrested Shekh Mohamad Sanaulla and Mohamad Jafir Aalam while they were trying to deliver the fake notes hidden inside two cartons of Kurta Salawar to Salim Aalam.
