  'Resolving Labor Issue Will Be The Main Agenda'

    Shyam Sundar Lal Kakshpati is the newly-elected president of Hotel Association Nepal (HAN). Earlier, he was General Secretary of HAN. He is chairman of Riverside Resort in Kurintar and Nanglo Group. Samiksha Koirala of Republica caught up with Kakshpati and talked about his plans for HAN for next two years. Excerpts:

    Icchya Raj Tamang is the chairman of Civil Group, a business conglomerate that has been operating a slew of companies ranging from real estate and housing to banks and financial institutions.     Dominic O’Neill is the head of the British government’s Department for International Development (DfID) Nepal. O’Neill, who arrived in Nepal in August, has previously served in Yemen, Iraq and Sierra Leone. A fluent Arabic speaker, O’Neill’s new passion is learning Nepali. In an interview with Rupak D Sharma he talked about challenges faced by Nepal in development process, bureaucratic hurdles that donor agencies face, the ongoing peace process and DfID’s support in Nepal’s federalism effort.

    Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, who is also the head of the Special Committee, has decided to immediately begin the process of sending home the combatants opting for voluntary retirement and completing the process in the next 12 days, and then moving ahead with the integration process.

The constitution drafting has come to a standstill, and according to media reports there have been some exercises for changing the government to bring in a national consensus government. Bhattarai talked to Republica´s Post B Basnet and Madhav Dhungel in this context. Excerpts:
