  Mero Awaaz, Merai Vote
       Sneha Moktan
A flat tire, road construction obstructions and a half-hour hike uphill later we were finally there at our destination – a school in Chaughare, a small village, a mere 25 km as the road stretches from the capital but two hours as a voter education team drives and hikes. Our team of volunteers – street drama artists and dohori team – then ascended on to the hillside where the school was perched, to carry out the voter education program. Launched
KATHMANDU, Nov 9: With an objective to introduce and provide a detailed information on the candidates contesting in the November 19 elections to the general public, a group of dynamic young individuals from Strongcode Labs has developed an online portal – – where one can not only find information on the candidates but also ‘Vote’ for their favorite one. The vote, however, is only a sample and will serve no purpose than to informally analyze which candidate is most popular among the site users.

“Many youth say that they don’t want to vote because they don’t know much about the candidates that are standing up for election. By creating this online portal, we’ve not only tried to disseminate information on the candidates, but the sample voting will also, in a way, predict which candidate is most likely to win the November 19 election,” said Bijay Khadka, founder/chairperson of Yes to Change and Strongcode Labs, at the launching program of held at Sheesh Mahal of Indreni Complex in New Baneshwar on Saturday.

  Mission Gosainkunda
       Dinesh Dahal
I, along with four of my friends, decided to trek to Gosainkunda. We set the date for October 19 and planned to complete the trip within a week.
Deciding to leave early in the morning, we planned to stay at a friend’s place on the eve of our tour. But one of our friends couldn’t join us that evening because of his late night job and promised to meet us the next morning.

There are two routes to Gosainkunda and we had a tough time settling on the route to our destination. The first and common route is to take a 5-6 hours bus trip up to Dhunche and trek for two days to Gosainkunda and return the same way. The second is a tougher and less popular route starting from Sundarijal. It takes 3-4 days on foot to reach Gosainkunda depending on the speed of the trekker. The return trip usually takes two days of trek.
