Himalaya Airlines starting scheduled flights to Doha from May 31
KATHMANDU, May 23: Himalaya Airlines, a Nepal-China joint venture carrier, has announced that it will operate first scheduled flight to Doha of Qatar on May 31.

Organizing a press meet in Kathmandu capital on Monday, Himalaya Airlines' officials said that the airline will use its Airbus 320-214 for Kathmandu-Doha flight. The aircraft has 150 seats in economy class and eight in business class.

Speaking at the press meet, Vijay Shrestha, vice president -- administration of Himalaya Airlines, said: "We feel honored to start our first scheduled flight to Doha with a purpose to advance tourism and business amongst Nepal and Qatar, and strengthen the relationship between the two nations. With regard to this operation, we commit in providing excellent customer service with a flavor of Nepali culture."

The airline has appointed Cleopatra Travels as its General Sales Agents (GSA) for passenger and cargo in Qatar. According to the airline, Cleopatra Travels will be responsible for the airline's sales and marketing, market development, reservations and ticketing services in Qatar.

Officials of Himalaya Airlines said in the press meet that they aim to acquire 15 Airbus aircraft and operate from Kathmandu to various cities in Asia and beyond in the near future and also introduce wide body aircraft of A330 family in due course of time for the operation of direct flights to long-haul destinations like Japan, South Korea, Europe, Australia and the Americas.

Commenting on the scheduled flight, Vijaya Shrestha, Vice President of the company, said, "We feel honored to announce that we are starting our first scheduled flight to Doha on May 31, 2016 with a purpose to advance tourism and business."

Himalaya Airlines, a full-service carrier, established in August 2014, started its international flights operation from April 12th 2016, flying directly to Colombo, Sri Lanka. The airline has also planned services to more destinations including Delhi, India followed by Lhasa, Chengdu and Beijing in China a few months later.
