Students of BHSS organize group art exhibition

KATHMANDU, June 1: Students from Class 11 and 12 of Bijeswori Higher Secondary School (BHSS) have organized a painting and sculpture exhibition titled 'The Journey of Art 2016' at Nepal Art Council in Babar Mahal. This is the fourth time BHSS has organized exhibition of this type.

The inauguration ceremony held on Monday, May 30, had German Ambassador to Nepal, Matthias Meyer as the chief guest, who also formally inaugurated the exhibition. Mohammad Barikul Islam, second secretary and head of chancery, Embassy of the People's Republic of Bangladesh in Kathmandu was the special guest.
Program Coordinator Bipin Raj Shrestha said, "This event showcases not only the talent of these young students, but also encourages aspiring SLC passed out students to join Fine Arts in +2 levels," adding that the visitors flow has been pretty overwhelming for the students.

The exhibition has presented about 48 paintings and 10 clay sculptures, all made by the students themselves. According to Shrestha, the artwork, portraits, and landscapes have made using mediums like acrylic, water color, and oil pastel on canvas. "Our students have worked really hard for this exhibition," he said.

The exhibits are also on sale, with price ranging from Rs 2,000 to 6,000. The exhibition will continue till June 3.
